I know it's supply & demand and the market dictates rates, but at the same time I just think clients or employers who are trying to get skilled resources at these ridiculous rates just because they can, should be ashamed of themselves.

Trying to get my head round if there will be a school holiday slump this year.

I am going permie - there is zero future for contracting in my specialist area - there's a twin-pronged attack going on - from the software house who want to control everything and assure their income stream and the effects of the IR35 changes. Add the virus and contracting is a no-hope for me for the foreseeable - especially as I don't see the point in inside IR35 "contracting" - that's not even contracting in my view.

After speaking with a colleague, long-term contractor at my current client, and hearing from him how much they pay our permie counterparts, I'm seriously considering asking the client to make me permanent (or at least mention that I'd be interested).

All I see in my market is fewer contracts and lower rates so it's not looking good.
