23% no big surprise HSBC are also one of the worse IBs to work at its all about cost cutting as for years the IT bosses have promised to save £120M per year! Where else would they save that except cutting salaries & or contractors!!

Just saw an ad for a Junior Azure BI / Data Warehouse developers for £300 per day. I thought "fair enough, I'll work for a very low rate, keep busy over Christmas and gain Azure on my CV". I called the agent and he pointed out something that I missed: It's Inside Ir35!
According to the agent, he's sent 5 or 6 people down there at that rate and he's getting lots of response. This is not looking good...Comment

There's something not quite right here. HSBC say they will be paying the same day rate to Reed, but Reed are knocking off 23%? I'd expect the Employer NI and Apprentice Levy deductions, but that's not 23%. So is it Reed who are trying to make extra margin here or has something got lost in communication?Last edited by Paralytic; 2 December 2019, 11:25.Comment

Resource solutions are doing the same rate cut at HSBC. I assume they are taking employers NI and then holiday cost deducted from your existing day rate and then also an extra cut which I assume goes to HSBC as it’s the same rate across agencies.

Very close to Christmas now, and January is usually pretty poor regardless of incoming Off-Payroll and Brexit woes. Mid February onwards is where we'll see what is actually going to happen. Odds on, most will take what they can get, agents by the summer will be calling not to see if you're 'fit for the requirements' but trying to as best as possible determine if you're serious about sticking with the 6 month contract on offer.
If they thought contractors were mercenary before, well they've seen nothing yet.Comment

Five years ago a good Data Warehouse dev rate at HSBC was £450/day and they were undrpaying then.The greatest trick the devil ever pulled was convincing the world that he didn't existComment
