There is definitely some movement at the upper end of the market. I've applied for several IT Director or equivalent roles in the last week after not seeing anything the previous month. A few friends have also made progress on the perm front with job offers and interviews after months of nothing happening.

I'm a bit sceptical of seeing roles advertised at 500k. These kinds of role hardly ever get advertised as they are usually the preserve of specialist search firms and most of the time would be filled by someone who has to be proactively approached as they are not looking to move.
    ED = executive director.

Yes they are mostly resourced by boutique consultants but if you look a handful have been popping up in the usual spots and on LinkedIn as direct recruit.

I have been testing waters with permanent roles now. Applied for a back end dev permanent role. Got a call from a rather pleasant lady agent for the same position as a contractor!

Don't know what to say. I just say they already got my CV and not applying through her.

I might actually be taking the permanent role if the pay is good enough.

Hope I didn't cause troubles with agent and hiring company

Getting lots of calls from pimps. All fake roles and fishing.

Not here. I've had just one call this week and that was just phishing for leads. More annoying because they only called me because I applied to their fake job ad.

Since the last Brexit deadline and the election announcement its been extremely quiet for me. The job boards have slowed to a trickle, 1 new role maybe 2 at a push each day of any remote relevance.

On the bright side I have just made it through a 2nd interview for a contract but the budget approval situation smells a bit iffy.

If anyone has any good ideas for messing with them, rocsearch periodically call me and fleece me for references using a fake job. I've played along every time and given the exact same reference every time (someone who I don't like) and having the exact same conversation every time just giving them the benefit of the doubt when I have nothing better to do, but it's starting to annoy me now. I wouldn't be surprised if they don't even do recruitment, just lead fishing.

I went to a Future CIO networking event yesterday with a guest speaker from one of the big exec search firms who specialises in CIO recruitment. They said they have never been busier handling perm roles. Earlier in the day I met up with an old contact who now works for a boutique search firm and she said something similar, the perm market is picking up.

I've heard this from at least half a dozen recruiters recently so maybe there's some light at the end of the tunnel.

From a contracting point of view, I had an interview with a recruiter for a Head of IT role and whilst there he had another similar role which we're going to discuss. Given how quiet October was for finding new opportunities, November has really picked up in comparison.

                    Good one yesterday

Role at MasterCard - suites my skills to a Tee (ok rate)

MasterCard put role to 14 different agencies, each is allowed only to submit 2 CV’s

Why was I not put forward I hear you ask

MasterCard wants someone with between 5 and 10 years worth or experience the agent told me

Meaning they don’t want anyone over 40

                    Logan’s run time

Yes, but they don’t want ex contractors
