Should be plenty of permie jobs then for anyone sick of government meddling with IR35 and associated tax/expense issues and the contracting rate for their skills set barely adds up anymore.

Decision is whether to go permie before the influx of new skilled immigrants and IR35 being rolled out the private sector causes a rush.

I'm sure the salaries won't be suppressed by over supply and government have it all under control and aren't merely pandering to companies wanting cheaper labour.

What happens to all the indigenous people that could be trained up to fill the 'skills shortage'? Let them lounge around in part time jobs where it pays better to be claiming tax credits on 16 hours a week. Makes the unemployment figures look reasonable even if the overall household income is way below what's necessary for a comfortable lifestyle with the current high costs of housing.

Yep, the state of the market is looking peachy.

Any other countries offering fastrack entry for people with IT related skills or is the UK in a 'unique' position?
Maybe tomorrow, I'll want to settle down. Until tomorrow, I'll just keep moving on.

That is a ridiculous decision it will cause more unrest as there are already lots of British benchwarmers due to globalisation & onshoring this is just another kick in the teeth to all the hard working & high net contributors. It just means wipro & the rest will find another 8,000 places after displacing the current UK IT resource. These 8000 will all be claiming the £750 a week over generous family tax credits as well! Not sure how that benefits HMRC at all!

        You've got two problems.

The first is the Tory Party supports the desires of capitalists. They want cheap and easy skilled workers. If they displace citizens onto the scrap heap, they see that as somebody else's problem.

The second is Brexit. As part of the powerful EU bloc we could strike trade deals with India with some element of protecting our own interests. Outside the the EU, we are going to have to give in to India's long pressured desire to swamp us with IT etc people. This will be one of the noticeable hits from Brexit and its a shame the posters on this channel will be right in the line of fire.

Being part of the EU did not work out too well did it for UK IT workers as any deals are only every NOT in favour of protecting the UK worker. In fact its pretty clear the UK does not do anything to protect its own workers! What is really stupid is how the government thinks importing low paid IT workers into the UK who cannot possibly have experience of complex IT work in India is such a good idea!

The side element of this is that IT is not the biggest focus for India at the moment; they're into engineering (mech/civil) as the flavour of the day so all the bods that Wipro/Infosys/TCS will be shipping over will be helpdesk staff who can dress themselves. Problem is that there will be enough UK contractors on the bench that they'll be happy to take the ant-herding Dev Lead contract to get the numtpy-bobs into line.

From that article: "The new structure would allow an unrestricted number of non-EU professional to enter the UK in the acute shortage areas like IT, engineering and teaching." What acute shortage is this then! More of the same I guess as rates are already plummeting across the board this is just going to sped up that race to the bottom.
