Not in a professional forum, as that would be unacceptable behaviour. I believe I am, however, allowed to let you illustrate the point yourself.Originally posted by Bee View PostAre you calling me an idiot?Comment

I've not been in this situation. So if I had a signed contract with a start date that is now in the past but I am still waiting instructions when to turn up, does that mean that the agency breached the contract and it is therefore legally void?Originally posted by suebfg View PostThe reason I raised the notice period was that the contract had a fixed start date and was fully signed by all parties. I'm sure I could be difficult about that if I chose to but I'm just going to treat it as null and void.
If I got another contract and signed and started there, what would be my position if the original agency phoned up the next day and asked me to start?
I guess it's very unlikely to happen, but what if it did?Comment

Technically I think the agency has repudiated the contract which entitles the other party to terminate and, bring a claim for damages, if they chose to.Comment

Happened to me
My contract got pulled recently just before the start date. To make this worse it was through the gig's in house recruiters.
Yet another cautionary tale.Comment
