    List of "substitute" contractors?

As above really, wondering if there is a list of folks knocking around that could/would act as a subbie for other folks in gigs?

My thinking was this could potentially help folks out who are on the bench with a bit of coin to keep them ticking over and assist putting peoples minds at rest with regards to Gideon's beloved detectives sniffing around?

How is that going to work? What are the chances of that person still being available say 3 months after their name appeared on the list? I certainly wouldn't as I'm in a gig 99.9% of the time. Would just be too difficult to manage a list like this with the way we work.

There used to be the contractor club I think that was designed for contractors to help each other but it went belly up I think.

Searching linkedin for people with 'Currently Available' in their title is as close as you are going to get with this.

Nothing wrong with that as it opens insights up you wouldn't have had just thinking about it...

Another thing to consider is the tiny number of times someone actually gets to put a sub in. It is very very infrequent and also think about the process of how you substitute. You don't just get another person to rock up on the Monday after you leave. If subbing is even a possibility your sub should be up to speed and pick up where you left off. This should include up to a weeks worth of handover at zero extra cost to the client i.e. one of you is going to have to do a weeks work for nothing...

It's not straight forward I'm afraid.

Also very difficult to manage when a security clearance or even a simple background check is involved.

+1 can be done in certain specialisms, if the client trusts you.
You have much more chance if the client as known the potential sub before.

Linkedin is prolly about as close as you'd get. At least you'd know the person but as NL says, who's going to get them up to speed.
