    QDOS Tax Investigation Insurance

My QDOS insurances (PI/PEL) are up for renewal and the quote I have been given also now includes Tax Enquiry Insurance.

I also have IPSE Plus Membership, which includes Tax Investigation Insurance as standard. So is there any benefit in having the QDOS tax insurance as well ?

WHS, but you should read the Ts&Cs of what's covered so that you understand it.

It comes with free QDOS IR35 contract reviews. That's probably worth something.

Check the fine print. I believe the tax enquiry insurance is bundled in to the PI / PEL insurance as a promotion and only covers the first 2 months from policy renewal.

Yes, that is correct and I am now being offered the product at £99 at PI/PEL renewal, the query being with IPSE Plus members having Tax investigation as part of the policy, is there a need for this QDOS offering ? I am not sure there is but am seeking fellow posters views.

There are plenty of threads discussing this in the link I sent you. There are some very detailed discussions in there...

BTW I wasn't completely sure so I got both... Overkill? Maybe. Worth it for piece of mind for £240 a year? Definitely (for me).

I was originally going to get it but it said in the smallprint just before I clicked purchase that you essentially had to have contracts reviewed for it to be valid.

While getting contracts reviewed is a great idea I am not quite in a position where I feel comfortable risking a gig by asking for it to be delayed while the contract is reviewed. So I'm sticking with IPSE for now.

(This doesn't mean that I will accept any old contract, I still check it myself for what I believe to be sufficient IR 35 compliance)

I imagine when I have more money so I can be more picky I will go for it. I don't know if the T&C have changed with their latest tax investigation insurance as I saw them e-mail me some new offer they have including free reviews...

It's my understanding that IPSE+ won't pay fines and taxes, they will only pay for representation, whereas QDOS will pay all fines and taxes.
Unless you're the lead dog, the scenery never changes.

Currently 10+ contracts available in your area

                    .
I'd suggest you grow some... And quick. You are in a strong position being and a daybor so either way isnt going to phase anyone. You can get a QDOS review done in less than a day.

If you don't have the gumption to negotiate with clients what makes you think you know enough to review a contract?

IMO this is a poor situation opening you up to some very expensive risks for no reason whatsoever.
