Client late authorising electronic timesheet - what should I do?

    Hi all,

I am currently in a contract where I submit a weekly electronic timesheet via the agency's system which is then supposed to be authorised electronically by the client. However the person who does the authorisations is not my line manager and is frequently late authorising the timesheet which means the deadline for payment by the agency is missed.

In the past I always used a manual timesheet where I would take it to the manager and get him to sign it there and then but this electronic one allows the client to authorise it whenever they feel like it and sometime they just can't be bothered.

This situation is stressing me out and I don't know what to do. What is your advice?

    A.

Have you tried talking to this person? a friendly introduction of your self to them will make you more than just a timesheet to process.

If bribes don't work then just accept they are going to be late or are you that desperate for the money?
This default font is sooooooooooooo boring and so are short usernames

It is not that I am desperate for the money, I just want to be paid weekly as per my contract.

Have a word with your agent and have a word with the client. With the agent ask them if they think the client has financial trouble as they are delaying authorising timesheet for some reason.

A couple of the agencies I've been with have warned clients if they are continually late authorising timesheets or continually late paying then I can walk of site.

However being a couple of days late randomly is normal but being a week late isn't.

I guess I can try to talk to the client and see if someone else can authorise my timesheets.

Got to ask how late is late. Where it is a pain in the ass it shouldn't be stressing you out.

It doesn't really matter if it's weekly billing because as soon as they miss the deadline you get paid the week after.

If the client randomly misses it, it isn't an issue but when they repeatedly do it is.

This hacks me off no end if \ when it happens. Permie's wouldnt like their pay being late so they shouldnt be late authorising.

As has been said, have a word with the agent and tell them you're prepared to terminate if it continues.

That's how I feel about it Bolshie, why should this guy dictate when I get paid? How would he like it if he did not get his salary next month?

I miss the manual timesheet, at least then you could just stand over them until they signed!

Yes. Occasionally, permies/managers act like they are doing you a massive favour by signing your timesheet. Or they make related jokes, openly, about sign off. They are unaware of how wholly inappropriate their attitude is. If their employer didn't pay them one month, they would fly into a fury and threaten to call in the SAS. Just smile and have a quiet word with the agent. I wouldn't mention terminating or walking out in the first conversation though. These are alarm words to agents.
