    Other contractors who are useless....

I never get involved in this normally and I'm the last person ever to dob someone in.

BUT this one guy a clientco really takes the piss. Hes constantly jumping in changing stuff. It goes wrong then no-one knows where he is and he hasn't even told anyone whats going on.

Normally I don't care. If client wants my opinion then they can have it but they retain other contractors so its nothing to do with me how they behave.

Its getting to the point where its causing grief now. I end up working late to sort out cock-ups.

Management appear to know what this guys like but tolerate him.

So, follow him to the toilets and give him a good kicking?

No, stop sorting out his cock-ups, ring fence your responsibilities and keep invoicing.

You should know this by now

Ah, the real crux of your "concern".

Yes, but, make sure you give him Rohypnol first, it may turn out he turns around and gives you a right pasting.
Obviously, get your desk cleared before you do this.

And so you like to spend extra hours at the office rather than seeing your family because some knobhead won't admit hes out of his depth? Just wondering.

            Why would I have to?

I never find myself in any of the work situations you describe, in mind-numbing detail, it really is as simple as that.

This is the piece, it seems, you are missing.
Why should you stay to fix others cock-ups, seems like D&C to me.

Depends whether you are the person responsible or not. I will admit its different in a BAU environment where the end client see it as the "system".

When things go wrong they don't want contractor 1 to say "But contractor 2 is/was doing those changes so Im not going near it". They just want it sorted.

It depends - if you're constantly covering for him, there's a problem. If you're visibly cleaning up after him, that's a start. If you mention that you're going to need time off in lieu due to working extra hours to visibly clean up after him, you're getting there. They would then be exposed to your colleague and at risk if you're not there.
