Well, given what you are doing and planning to be doing, quite obviously, you didn't.

Most of the things that you have learnt(?!) on this thread have been covered by many, many, posts before.
In addition, there has been plenty of professional accounting people on here advising about the same, not just a useless bunch of contractors

Either that or you are as good at searching the internet as my dear old mum

Stay naysayer and once contracting ends you will be deep in tulip
Then you attempt to patronise and insult, even though you know nothing about me, or my goals.
Lets put it this way, they are a lot more advanced than yours and will also be within British tax law, regardless of the changes

If someone suggests a solution to you, then writing crap like "no, that will not work", but failing to explain why, is useless.

      Respect is earned, not demanded.

We all go about problems in different ways, some of us try to learn from them and grow as a result.

But please tell me, what obstacle have I given up on? I'm intrigued.

Maybe, you should take some of your own medicine

You mention goals, when I have set myself one, I research prior to putting a plan into action.
Simple really, you then are more likely to succeed, rather than fail.
Why do you think I am being so hard on you? I recognise this behaviour from myself!

I notice you say when you have set a goal you research - yes, all as it should be - but when....is when going to be?!

        Because someday rarely comes.

A point that I am telling you and myself simultaneously!

You said that having investments on SIC = consultancy might be a problem for HMRC. Now the real questions is : will they knock your door only if your investments are "Significant" that is 20% of profits or more , or they will knock regardless of amounts? There you go , shine with your knowledge

I don't think you are being hard at all, maybe, a little misguided.

No, we are not the same, I take holidays and time off, I also, don't work late nights.

One of the reasons I started this was to enable me to have large chunks of time off.
A few years ago I took a year out to travel, for example.

My clients appreciate the time they have from me, as they trust me enough not to worry. I last spoke to my "Line Manager" 6 weeks ago, for example.

After this 3.5 year programme they have already said they would like me back, go figure.

Um, I don't believe I ever said anything like that. I think you may be insulting me when you mean to be insulting someone else.

I await your apology, or a further suggestion from you as to why you say I give up on obstacles.

                Seek and Ye will find.
What contractors need to know about investing through their contractor ltd company

As I suggested earlier, have a bad year of bench time, or your investments rise greatly in value, then you could find your investments get you into trouble.

                Capiche?

Then we are not so dissimilar as you say then. I, too, take large chunks of time off. (I work hard and late and take no holiday, then I take breaks between contracts). I also get asked back repeatedly.

But....working on turning my dreams into goals?

That, I need to focus on more. I would love to sell a product rather than my services - so I can really scale up. And have something tangible out there.

Hence my admiration for the OP for having goals. His aim may be off, but that can be corrected.

Cut him some slack. I know he's being a bit bolshy now, but he's fed up and disheartened.

There is no shame in not knowing stuff if you are prepared to ask for help. He's doing that now.

Pour me another, he's acting like Kevin the teenager at his "time of the month".

I have tried to help him in plenty of ways, but, get no thanks for it.
He needs to grow a pair, or forget about being in business at all.
