    Breaking into digital PM

    Hello All,

    Would like some advice on how to switch from a managed services/infrastructure (telephony/wan/lan/dc/windows/service transition/UC) PM to becoming a digital PM on websites.

    I am thinking from a qualification POV, Agile Practioner (attained), and then scrum master.

    Is it a case of going permie as a junior for a year?

    Best way to do it IMO is to get lucky with a client and take a gig on while you are there. You aren't going get given the opportunity by new clients as they want experienced guys and there are plenty of them. If you don't have the skills you won't get a look in. You can get lucky and can make the most of it if you are clever but treating it like a career step and expecting it to happen won't work in contracting.

    That said do what you can to get ready for the right opportunity. Do the courses and get the qualifications so if a spot at your client opens up you armed and ready. Clients will not provide you a training/learning platform from scratch.

      1) Read up on all the terminology needed to sound competent and pass the interview
      2) Apply for the lower range of the salary range as you won't be competing with the best talent for the role (either contract or perm)
      3) Deliver some successful projects, you will have to work extra hard to cover your knowledge gap the first six months
      4) Congratulations your now a digital PM
