    Advice on re-skilling as a Project Manager/Agile Scrum Master

    A friend of mine has been looking for quite some time for contract work and is getting
    quite bored of it.She specialises in SQL Development and is considering doing training
    and getting Prince2 certified and also Agile Scrum Master courses.

    Ive got 2 questions:

    1) Is there demand for Project Manager /Scrum Master roles on the current contract market?

    2) Would she be able to get in somewhere once qualified

    she is well aware of the fact that she would be going back several rungs down the ladder and taking
    a junior contract position but is prepared to do that.

    1) You can check job serve and itjobswatch and do some research

    2) Nope. She need experience. She needs to show she can walk in to a client and start delivering from day one. Clients don't pay contractors to learn on the job.

    Very occasionally you get the chance to re-skill in a gig to help moving sideways but contractors can't just change skill set and experience the to get work.

    She either needs to go perm with her current skill set if she can't get work or go perm and learn her new one IMO.

      Thanks. Yep I think she would have to go into a perm role once qualified ,maybe with her current skill set..and move across into a PM role or maybe try and get some form of Developer/PM role
