What is the average perm salary for a SQL Server DBA

I will apologise now for either posting this perm related question on a contractor board.

But I have been approached by quite a few agents about SQL Server DBA roles.
What I have heard is that DBAs in the contract market can earn between £500 and £700 a day and
on the perm side ...between £70,000 and £80,000.

I was offered a SQL Server DBA perm role which was paying between £60k and £65k. For the SQL Server DBAs out there..is this on the low end of the perm scale of what you would expect?

I'm curious about this because my gut feeling is that is...and also I have never said I was a DBA on my CV...just have picked up administration skills.

Then I looked up the company on glassdoor!!!

Do you mean in London as I doubt many will pay that much except in London. I think you'd need to be pretty hot DBA for that salary. At my last law firm I think it was more like £45-55K about 3 years ago.

Ok so £60-£65K is a very good salary then?

Spend some time on jobserve and get some figures off there or look at itjobswatch which scrapes jobserve and look at the historical prices from around the country.

Itjobswatch gives £65k for "SQL Server Consultant" as the best salary on average.

"Senior SQL Server DBA" - £55k

              Take the money and run.
