    From nearly there to nothing....

Long time reader, first time poster

I want your thoughts. I had a phone interview after going direct to a company. The interview went well to the extent of the manager saying they wanted to progress me. The offer of a face to face came and I said I would need to arrange with my current client to come and the manager said no, it's ok she wants to progress me.

A week later, interviews held and they turned me down. The feedback was I was very good but they had slightly stronger candidates at this time. I know next time to go face to face but I have wrote back an email back saying I undestood, was still keen and to let me know.

I have friends in the company who thought I was nailed on. In anyone's experience would you expect to hear ever again? They are growing and will need more staff for their niche business which I have skills that suit

Maybe they found someone with better grammar and attention to detail...

Anyway, they might still keep you on a list of candidates but generally I doubt it unless it's going to be very soon.

I can't remember the last face to face interview I did - probably 5 years ago or more now. Nail the phone interview and hope no-one better comes along!

Not only that, if the OP came across during interview as confusing as some of their explanation in the post is, Im not surprised they went for someone else!

        What didn't you understand Bastard?

I concede about the grammar. Unfortunately I was writing this at 1am when I was tired.

          WHS!

You were asked to Face to Face, you didn't and they found someone else?

            Don't mimic his confusing English.

Sounds like the OP said "I'll need to arrange time off from the current client" and was told "oh, don't worry about it then, because we know we want you".

              Or something.

Try not to be upset when you don't get jobs you know you obviously could do. Ultimately, you would've had to end up working for the person that made that decision, and if they didn't 'get' you in the interview they might be hard to get on with after.

                    What he said...

Ironically, chances are there is a good reason there is a vacancy. I was feeling bad about recently being rejected for something that was relatively local to me, but then I thought, they had been advertising the role for a few months and had interviewed 23 people by the time they got to me. It certainly isn't the quality of candidates that was at issue.
