    Terminating contract

I have a new contract (10 weeks) that started two days ago on 19th November 2014. For the first day I was unable to attend due to feeling unwell. I haven't yet started the project as planned as have felt unwell for 3 consecutive days now. I have emailed the client each day to update them and have since suggested we start the project on Monday.

However, I am now having second thoughts about this contract and want to work out where I stand on terminating, having not yet been to the client office or started work. We have a 7 day notice period for either my as supplier, or for the client.

Would I be in my rights to email and give 7 days notice stating I'm unwell and unable to do this contract at all? I have not been to my doctor, I understand that doctors notes etc are not an issue when working as Limited Company contractor, which I do.

    Thanks in advance.

What a remarkable coincidence, you being unwell, then deciding you don't want to start the contract after all.

Are you just here to practice the lies on us until it sounds more believable?

Hmm.. I knew a Simon once who failed to turn up until day 3 of the contract, he also claimed to have been ill, he also took a dislike to the role and left at the earliest opportunity.

        How strange the coincidence!?

No matter how unwell I am (unless I am paralysed or in coma) I will always make sure I'm going on my first day, I remember going to a first day on my contract having a fever and severe diarrhea. First days you're not doing much anyway.
Why did you accept the contract in the first place if you don't want it

Did you manage to make it to your existing contract this week per chance ?

Yes. If you want to leave, give your notice and leave.

Make sure there is nothing else in the contract which might give rise to them suing and winning for breach, though.

Come to think of it, he probably was about that age.
