Er, is this person billing for 2 days if they pulled 16 hours in one day, not once but regularly!?

Looks like everyone is asking the same question until the OP responds. You can only be amazed at some people's billing 'skills' if that is the case!
I couldn't give two fornicators! Yes, really!

Well the question has been asked by 3 different people in 3 different ways and no answer from the OP. I think that tells a story.

Hello and thanks again for all of the replies.

As mentioned before, we had no written contract, it was only a verbal contract that stated £385 per day and no mention of the amount of hours worked. On early invoices I charged the day rate for 7.5 hours per day, leaving me to believe that the time of 7.5 hours plus tea breaks and toilet breaks addèd to one day at £385. Nothing cake from the agency to dispute this and invoices where paid.

As for charging for a 16 hour day, yes, I charged two days for that day as it was in my mind two days. I only did this once.

Hope this helps and apologies for the delay in answering this.

Nothing in writing apart from the client asking a colleague what my day rate is before I started to which she emailed them and told them £385 per day.

I am still a little confused. You seem to use agency and employer interchangeably. Are you invoicing through a limited company? Umbrella? or are you actually working for the agent as a temp?

But it did add up to 7-8 hours/day right? Because if it didn't this is the most probable ground for the review. As they are now aggregating all hours recorded dividing them by 7 or 8 which is the norm and coming up less days than you billed for. There is no client who will pay you a daily rate just because you showed at the office for a 2h meeting and then buggered off.
I normally invoiced £385 per day based on a 7.5 to 8 hour day. I for any reason I worked less then I would charge less based on half a day where applicable and mono would never charge a full day for a two hour meeting. Thanks

Invoicing via my limited company. Apologies for mixing my terms of agency/employer up...

and if you worked more than 8 hours in a day?

What would you invoice for a 10/hr day, a 12/hr day?

Often I would not charge if the day went over an hour extra but if it went over two then I would add this to my weèkly time, but this was not often.
