In my experience, going direct can yield a higher rate as there is generally more negotiating headroom. You need to think like a business. -
And thinking like a business the client shouldn't be paying a contractor the same as the rate he pays an agency for the same contractor. Just because the client is saving the agents costs doesn't mean the contractor should expect to get them. The client will have to carry out the work and agent would which costs him money.Originally posted by ITPRO2 View PostIn my experience, going direct can yield a higher rate as there is generally more negotiating headroom. As a company director, you should consider yourself obliged to protect the interests of the shareholders. This means identifying areas where you can enhance the company's bottom line. In this situation, if the client wants your companies services you need to negotiate harder than normal, as the rewards can be sweeter.Originally posted by northernladuk View PostAnd thinking like a business the client shouldn't be paying a contractor the same as the rate he pays an agency for the same contractor. Well yes - but that is a two way street; the other side has an interest in paying as little as possible to maximise their bottom line...Originally posted by ITPRO2 View PostAs a company director, you should consider yourself obliged to protect the interests of the shareholders. By going direct, both parties can effectively increase their respective bottom lines. Agents are just leaches.Originally posted by malvolio View PostWell yes - but that is a two way street; the other side has an interest in paying as little as possible to maximise their bottom line...

OT but, my kids go to the same school that he did, and every day walk past a plaque with his name on. There's another inside that bigs him up and it's a well known and presented fact at the school. There is a smaller plaque with an equation written on it. Just shows how highly one profession is taken over the other these days.Originally posted by TheFaQQer View Post"Israel, Palestine, Cats."
