Once (or in my case, many times by this agency) bitten, twice shy - and so don't trust them to do anything right in the future

BTW, before the original contract/umbrella job in question, the original guy at the agency arranged an interview for me for a job for which I suspected that I was not qualified or experienced - and he was then very "miffed" when I asked for a job spec which confirmed that, and turned down the interview opportunity!

That would be fine if they stopped chasing me time and time again about the same jobs after I have told them very clearly that I'm not interested in it/them. OTOH, many do stop, and sometimes even apologise second time around!

PS: I do differentiate between these persistent "nuisance" emails from specific agency staff and the blanket-distribution emails from websites like Jobsite, Monster, Security Cleared Jobs, etc., as I realise that there is no point in doing much about the latter - it's just the way they work!

You are saying they are crap just because they asked you for 2 references?

I've had every agency under the sun try the two references trick on me.

It's when you are experienced and they realise they aren't going to get anything out of you that's amusing.

You can also play some tricks if you feel like it.

PS: to ANYONE at VIVID who is watching this thread - if someone (ANYONE!) could have saved me the hassle of dealing with, reporting and following up on it, and actually done something about it a few days after I registered and explained my "displeasure" at being asked to provide VAT-related info to your company, and actually apologised with an explanation, then all this abuse which is (most definitely!) being fired in your direction would almost certainly not happened.

NONE of that did actually happen, and so "read and ENJOY"! - or NOT!!

Your given ref point provides limited info and I have not delved further. However, I wonder if the principle of harassment can be applied in a B2B situation. As a contractor you are either a business or a private individual. Seems to me unlikely that (for example) British Gas Trading could use the act to defend themselves against a persistent trader.
