    EU selfish

EU shellfish import ban permanent, UK fishing industry told

The EU has told British fishermen they are indefinitely banned from selling live mussels, oysters, clams cockles and scallops to its member states.

As the UK is now a separate country, it is not allowed to transport the animals to the EU unless they have already been treated in purification plants.

But the industry says it does not have enough tanks ready and the process can slow exports, making them less viable.

The government promised to continue to "raise the issue" with the EU.

From now on Spuddy will only cook patriotic shellfish meals for the entire British army, whilst upgrading the Indian mobile network single handily and advice UK ports on logistics problems at the same time

Edit: Or was it Ziggy who was the port infrastructure specialist? Can't remember. They sound all the same these Gammons

Well, that is a shame. British Oysters really are the best. I suppose I'll just have to deal with those crappy south Britanny ones.
Down with racism. Long live miscegenation!

We got some Welsh ones before HWMBO returned beyond the wall and they were fab. He thought they were the best he's had in a long time.

Wales is in the EU now, then? and no longer British?

Sorry I was being regionally specific within Britain. HWMBO thought them superior to Loch Fyne ones but I failed to add that bit in. It was more an endorsement that we have good oysters here.

Will that be hard on you?

Wales is still in the 19th century. The locals still stare at motor vehicles.

                  But are they happy oysters?
