Brexit: Truckers arrive ‘fresh and well-fed’ after first Rosslare-Dunkirk sailing

Small negative economic impact on UK perhaps, but positive environmentally not to have truck clogging up the roads and belching out fumes from Holyhead to Dover. Main downside is decreased risk to cyclists in the Llandudno area.

Less diesel produced NO2 - over the next million years that should save plenty of unborn babies to justify Brexit.

We just built a train route under the alps, running border to border.

There are no emission regulations for ships and ships emit far more co2 and NOx than vehicles

My guess would be that ferry is better than lorry for CO2 (economies of scale), and for NOx it is the local pollution that is the problem which would worse for lorries. Just a guess through, so happy to be proved wrong.

In the meantime HS2 (almost exclusively overground) will take next 20 years to complete, if at all..

It took 17 years to build at a cost of 12.2 billion Swiss francs ($12 billion). On time and on budget. As opposed to HS1, initially budgeted at £56 billion ($75.9 billion) and now estimated at £106bn ($143.7 billion). Perhaps the Swiss should help out? Especially considering their original railway network was constructed largely by British engineers.
