“According to people briefed on the talks, the deal includes a transition period of five-and-a-half years during which EU boats will have guaranteed access to UK fishing waters. The EU’s fishing rights will be reduced by 25 per cent compared to now, with the knock-on effect of boosting how much British boats can catch.”

New Labour Govt in in less than 5 years, absolutely no fooking chance Tories will win again any time soon - not after all this tulip and new taxes introduced in a few months time

I actually thought they’d be smart and go for no-deal because WTO tariffs is nice tax earner which they did not promise to never introduce, so can effectively get 10% VAT even on stuff that’s not VATable - and cut some income taxes to put money intomproples pockets.

It wasn't just fish but also visas, some British people wanted less East Europeans: Is a UK wish to impose visa restrictions on Romanians and Bulgarians holding up Brexit talks?
Brexit is having a wee in the middle of the room at a house party because nobody is talking to you, and then complaining about the smell.

"In a series of tweets, Irish journalist Tony Connelly, RTE’s Europe editor, suggested that alongside fish, other outstanding areas still not resolved include rules of origin for electric batteries; UK participation in Erasmus; and an EU demand for a non-discrimination clause.

“This would mean that the UK cannot discriminate against any member state. It’s been incorporated into social security cooperation, but not into the sphere of short-term visas. This is a non-negotiable element for the EU, I’m told,” wrote Connelly."

Sounds pretty sensible thing to demand, this would be particularly amusing for when Turkey joins EU (as ERG/Farage chunts claimed will happen)

"He also said “it appears European fishing crews have succeeded in retaining at least 75% of their current catch over the next five years, and of course that’s far more than the French, Spanish, Portuguese, Dutch and Belgians could have expected”."

Lots of angry Brexiteers phoning into Talk Radio UK. The UK could have become a huge fishing nation and Boris has thrown it all away.

“ Barrie Deas, the chief executive of the National Federation of Fishermen’s Organisations (NFFO), said the deal had secured just “a fraction of what the UK has a right to under international law”, arguing that fishing had been “sacrificed for other national objectives”.

“Lacking legal, moral, or political negotiating leverage on fish, the EU made the whole trade deal contingent on a UK surrender on fisheries,” he said. “In the endgame, the prime minister made the call and caved in on fish, despite the rhetoric and assurances that he would not do what Ted Heath did in 1973.”

Gotto to give it to Boris - masterfully used tiny leverage to get what he wanted, all it took is to lie a lot to people who were lied to in the previous decades.
