Kinda depends how you look at it. It's like £350m versus 2.4% of government spend. One makes great marketing spin, the other puts it into perspective.
UK farmers used to get €28b per year. UK farming contributes about 0.6% to the UK economy.
French farmers receive about €63b per year. They contribute around 1.8% to the French economy.
So, they contribute 3x as much to the economy, but receive just over 2x as much in subsidies.
Maybe if UK farmers contributed more to the economy, they'd have got more in subsidies.…Maybe we ain’t that young anymoreComment

So you're saying that the UK assigned the funds to the wrong British farmers?
There's 2 pillars to CAP - the BPS and Rural Development. Both are overseen by DEFRA. In countries like Germany, the rural development side takes <5% of the budget. The UK government takes 15%. Yes, over 3x the amount that other countries take.
Then each government decides on their own rules as to how they are going to allocate out the funds. It's called a direct payment, but it all goes through HM Gov.
Don't you understand how the process worked?…Maybe we ain’t that young anymoreComment
