As someone already pointed out, they're all part of the Nation of Scotland.

You guys must at least have heard of something called 'national identity' and 'national pride'.

There are huge expanses of oil fields all around Scotland, Orkney and Shetland. If we were all independent we would be pretty rich.

And if they ever let you in, EU rules would prevent anyone from setting fire to any of it. Even Scotland (the home of comedy cuisine) cannot find a culinary use for crude oil, so if you did achieve independence, it would be around 60 years too late.

Shetland has been a part of the country of Scotland since the late 15th century, just as Scotland has been part of the nation state of Great Britain, then UK since 1707. Scotland has been it the union for longer than Shetland was in an independent Scotland. Shetland also deserves the right of self determination.
