Leave the EU, you have to leave the custom union and single market - it's pretty darn clear. This various different types of leave is just another tactic to try and justify not leaving or a second referendum.

This. Both sides said so during the campaign, and it was in the £9m Leaflet. MPs seem to be confusing the "Leaving" bit with the future relationship, and I would be happy if that future relationship included some sort of Customs Union, perhaps even EFTA, but we have to leave the EU first.
The EU were quite savvy in separating the two negotiations, knowing that something like this current chaos was quite likely. MPs have made it much easier for them by voting away our only serious negotiating chip. May's Treaty is terrible, and everyone knows it. How "deliberate" this is, is anyone's guess.
