But they aren't actually speed limiters, they are speed warnings, both audible and visual.

When just when will you millennial snowflakes stop reading fake sensationalist headlines and stopping there. Read the text behind and around the headline and you might actually find out the truth and not the fake news headline.

And you guys are supposed to be capable of running a Ltd Co. God help us all

      According to the BBC article:
The system can be overridden temporarily. If a car is overtaking a lorry on a motorway and enters a lower speed-limit area, the driver can push down hard on the accelerator to complete the manoeuvre.

      From the Daily Mail article
Vehicles will be slowed in accordance with speed limits using GPS and traffic sign recognition cameras...The system can then automatically adjust the restricted top speed by limiting the engine power.

      From the Forbes article
Modern speed limiters do not automatically apply brakes but cap the top speed of motor vehicles by restricting engine fuel supplies.

So your statement "But they aren't actually speed limiters, they are speed warnings, both audible and visual" is factually inaccurate. Would you like to reconsider your earlier remarks?

NO I would not like to reconsider my earlier remarks.

Look very carefully at the language used in the quotations you have used.

How many times do the words WILL or SHALL occur. How many times does the word CAN occur?

What do the words WILL and SHALL imply? - an action that is mandated to happen, e.g. I will go to the shops (decision made I am going to the shops come hell or high water

What does the word CAN imply? - an action that may or may not happen, e.g. The system CAN then automatically adjust the restricted top speed by limiting the engine power - might happen, might not who knows.

You very carefully have selectively quoted from all the articles ignoring those facts that do not support your thinking.

With reference to your last quote. Top speed limiters have been around for years this is nothing new, and usually occurs around 155mph for reasons unknown to me.

Your first statement is factually inaccurate. It starts by stating the scenario that a driver is overtaking a lorry on a motorway and then enters a lower speed area. How and when does that happen when still on a motorway unless you are entering an area of road works in which case the GPS mapping system in any car will be useless and conflict with any traffic sign recognition cameras. If you are on a motorway you will be on a multiple lane carriage way and over taking the lorry will not be a problem even in a speed restricted zone, which incidentally you should be adjusting your speed yourself or risk being caught being caught by the average speed camera in most motorway road works areas.

And talk about massive misquoting from the Daily Mail.
Here is a quote for you from todays Daily Mail on the same subject The DoT states " It says drivers will simply be alerted by a dashboard light and an audio alert, similar to existing warnings when seatbelts are left unfastened."

Would you like to reconsider your earlier BS remarks?

No limiters on the nonsense you spout in your efforts to prove the point you lost. But keep trying, if it makes you feel better.

If you read it, you will find it is a limiter, much like a form of cruise control, that will prevent you from speeding (with audible and visual warnings) when the GPS determines that your speed would be greater than the speed limit, and that you can "override" by pressing down hard on the accelerator (probably void your insurance if you do this). Normal pressure on the accelerator will result in the car limiting your speed.

It is not scare mongering, it is EU/UK law coming into effect in a few years.

                thin

He's probably too poor to drive a car with modern safety aids. I drove a hire car with the lane safety thing. When tried to change lane, it would resist enough that if you weren't intending to change lane, you'd react.

I've not driven a car with speed limiters, but I'd imagine it would be the same kind of thing. I hope!
