Turkey’s in a CU with the EU, do they think Turkey has a say in the EU’s trade deals?

I'd imagine not, given that we pay £10bn a year, and that doesn't seem to buy us much of a say.

How do you know it doesn’t buy much of a day? Confirmation bias?

Before Brexit, British politicians and diplomats were seen as world class and heavily influential within the EU.

In 45 years, how much have our "world class" politicians managed to reform the CAP and the CFP? The stuff that really needs fixing can't be fixed. I'm sure we were very influential when it came to banning smoking, and lightbulbs that cost less than a tenner, but in reality our presence in the "club" is tolerated because of our financial contribution, and any illusion that we have any actual influence is purely that. An illusion.

Well, we could talk about the significant reduction in CAP as a % of budget over the past 30 years, or the rebate, or the future reforms. Same for fishing.

But go on then, I’ll agree with you. Our politicians and diplomats are rubbish and can’t even influence a region where they pay in a significant amount of money.

Good luck with them negotiating agreements with countries where we don’t pay anything into, the UK won’t even be “tolerated” there.

Now that Bercow has blocked May's deal as it stands, the options will be one of the indicative votes. The three most likely ones being customs union, customs union plus single market and/or second referendum..

It would appear to me that their best alternative would be the deal after a second referendum.

                    I'm alright Jack

If the French or Germans didn't like it, that idea would have been killed off in an instant.
