What makes you say it's not under control anyway? The net immigration is more than just the EU so the government, despite the rhetoric, is not doing what it could to reduce it. My conclusion is that it is under control in exactly the way the government want and the whole debate is a red herring.

Immigration is good for the country. And really good for business. And really really good for tories (both because it gets them votes when they pretend to want to do something about it, and because it makes them richer)

You do know we have an ageing population don't you? And the fix to that is immigration. And the immigrants just need to be young and fertile, their skills are immaterial.
The net increase due to immigration being in the EU is 2 million. If the population had increased from 55 million to 57 million since 1975 no-one would have batted an eyelid.

Of course everyone would argue that they would keep piling in from Eastern Europe, the fact is wages have gone up 4 fold in these countries since they joined and the stats show they're not coming anymore. That slowdown would have occurred without Brexit, in a decade they'll be on a par with Western Europe. Apart from asylum seekers Germany's immigration has been pretty low simply because the rules make it difficult if you're not in the EU.

One thing is for certain the EU is no way responsible for the increase in the population most of which is accounted for by ageing i.e. not pegging out at 70 and non-EU immigration which is currently running at over 200,000 a year.
    I'm alright Jack

I know for you it was a blue passport, which you could have had anyway (not that you ever need one to go up to Blackpool)

Listening to a Brexiter on LBC I get the impression many just want to make their life sh*ter, fed up of this high quality food, bring in all the sh*te from outside the EU.

It’s easier on the food when it’s packaged in cans - chickens, plastic cheese, etc. Bring all that in from the USA. Will go well with the Frey Bento pies.

The passport is a nice bonus, and I don't do "oop North"...

Oh dear: Fray Bentos | Baxters.co.uk
Brexit is having a wee in the middle of the room at a house party because nobody is talking to you, and then complaining about the smell.

I see this sub-forum is still rammed full of whining melodramatic bedwetting bremainiac simpletons.

Tedious in the extreme, but with the significant advantage that they are all corralled into one tiny safe space away from the real world that scares them so much.

Oh well, off back to more intellectually stimulating climes.
