Brexit caveats aside, I can't help but feel that EVERY year there is a doom and gloom on the high street story, usually about now, and then every January hey presto there are stories about how well the high street did over the Christmas period, often in some last minute surge.

Also, I don't think we can believe Mike Ashley who might have an agenda in scaring landlords into reducing rents to help his own (failing) Debenhams stores. Nevertheless, there are enough stories about high street rents being too high that I'm sure that must be true.

I'm sure the usual suspects on here will say it's all down to Brexit, and that's fine, but these stories do come up every year, despite Brexit.

No No it because of Brexit

If the shops were doing well it would be despite Brexit.

Right so Germany's consumer confidence is 10.6 in July 2018 and in Venezuela it was 67

and in Italy it was 116.2
