I expect they'll blame it on the bad weather if sales in the run up to crimbo are below expectation.

Another key indicator of the health of the economy is restaurants.

Restaurant insolvencies jump as diners stay at home

When people stop eating out then it's usually a sign they're feeling the pinch in their pocket. Below inflation wage rises over many years and being maxed out on debt is just one reason there is likely to be a recession in a consumer led economy that has little to do with brexit as it is not just the UK or EU that's on that path.
Maybe tomorrow, I'll want to settle down. Until tomorrow, I'll just keep moving on.

No, no, it's all down to Brexit.

There must be a market for remoaner Christmas cards that say

"Sorry, Christmas is cancelled due to Brexit!"

Consumer spending strong in the US in November

I wonder why confidence in the UK is low ? I suppose the drop in the pound didn't help, wonder what caused that, and then there is all this uncertainty.
        I'm alright Jack

What Uncertainty? We're leaving the EU, May has publically stated that there will be no 2nd referendum.

Well I imagine it is the sheer mind boggling arrogance and stupidity of the remain politicians desperately trying to derail anything Theresa May tries to do.

Then you have Tony '****wit' Blair telling everyone we need a second referendum.

The only uncertainty and lack of confidence we have right now is being caused by those fooking children masquerading as politicians.

In other words - you lost, get over it and stop fooking up this country.

aah sounds like Brexit isn't working out as expected. Well spotted oPM. If you can arrange for 16 million remoaners to be deported then the problem will resolve itself.

                  Also from the article.

'Moore Stephens said that insolvencies were at their highest level since it began tracking the sector in 2010.
It blamed an influx of private equity investment that had led to some restaurant chains opening too many sites that were now failing to break even.'

When people stop spending money in restaurants then obviously there will be "too many restaurants". Of course up until now they were breaking even.
