There are three types of Brexiteer...

Fintan O’Toole: Historians will not believe sheer ignorance of Brexit supporters
    1. The deliberate unknowing
    2. The crassly self-deluded
    3. The pig ignorant

Enjoy yourselves by allocating your favourite Brexiteers to their category.

The nearest historical equivalent was when the church instructed peasants to kill their cats because they are disguised witches; this resulted in the plague of rats and the black death.

Except the article is talking about allocating the politicians, not the public, into those three categories.

So if we are now expanding that to the public on this forum, does that classify you as '1' - deliberately unknowing?

            I disagree.

            Brexiteers fall into two camps:

            1) Easily led - human societies rely on large swathes of people who just believe any old nonsense they're told. This limits debilitating levels of argument/struggle and allows human groups to function cohesively. I would guess that accounts for a large proportion of Brexiteers (but also Remainers - who were just told something different).

            2) Gamblers - Remainers aren't gamblers. They could see there was not much chance - if any - of winning anything so they elected not to play. Brexiteer gamblers however wanted to gamble so they made up all sorts of reasons why they could win something , and discarded all the evidence that they wouldn't. So they are not ignorant as much as disinclined to be distracted by facts. They find facts counter-productive. Facts don't support their worldview so - quite logically - they give little weight or attention to them.

JRM doesn't fit into any of those, he knows exactly what he's getting. He just wont tell anyone, as it wont do his legion of deluded worshippers any good.

                4. Hates the EUSSR
                5. Hates the UK ruling elite - a chance to give them a kicking without doing any severe damage. That worked out well.....

No, as I voted remain. Nice try though.
