    Tory No-Deal Brexit DOOM(tm): Falklands 2

Argentina will exploit a no-deal Brexit to 'enhance' its claims to Falklands, says its foreign minister

Argentina would exploit the fallout from a no-deal Brexit to further its efforts to bring the Falklands under its control, the country’s foreign minister has said.

Jorge Faurie told The Telegraph that Argentina would use the situation to “enhance” its own diplomatic push to pull the islands away from the UK and towards Buenos Aires.

Once the UK leaves the European Union, all EU treaties will cease to apply and member states will no longer be obliged to support the UK’s claim over the territory.

“Our planning for Las Malvinas [the Argentine name for the islands] is to have a negotiation that will enable stronger relations between the people on the islands and the people on the continent [mainland],"...

They can "enhance" their "claim" all they want, but if their ships get too close then they will be joining the Belgrano.

How exactly did the EU "support" Britain during the Falklands conflict.

Err, they did exactly nothing. Well the French did something, they sold extra Exocet missiles to Argentina.

Goodbye EU, you worthless stinking pool of piss.

It's NATO's job to provide "support" during attack on one of its members.

France was rejoined NATO in 2009.

Why didn't UK trigger article 5?

"Because Article 5 does not cover the Falklands. Specifically, Article 5 is only operative north of the Tropic of Cancer."

Why was article 5 of the NATO treaty not invoked when Argentina attacked the Falklands? - Quora

We didn't require NATO's support. We kicked their arses on our own after travelling halfway around the world to do it.

You don't tweak the Lion's tail without consequences..............you Russkies ought to know that.........

Great. Then why complain about EU not supporting it?

Two World Wars were enough to make EU lose appetite for it.

There WAS no EU when we were winning two world wars.

Good to know they have our backs when the going gets tough. And a good thing for them that WE had an appetite in 1940.

It is said that 99.7% of Austrians approved of the reunification - although it is also said that the vote may have been rigged.

They won't need to enhance their claim when Jezza is in No. 10. He will gladly hand them over, along with Gibraltar to Spain , and Northern Ireland to Ireland. Shortly followed by full independence for Scotland and Wales.
