Actually as usual Gove is right on the money, maybe not the public but definitely industry, there is gold in that there rubbish. Most dumps will sell off items if you ask them nicely.

I believe (never seen it though) there's a daytime BBC show that does exactly this. They take stuff from council tips and recycle it into saleable goods.
