Theresa May unveils Britain's post-Brexit immigration plan with priority for high-skilled workers

A curb on low-skilled workers from the European Union will be at the centre of Britain’s post-Brexit immigration policy, Theresa May has announced.

The Prime Minister confirmed that free movement will end completely, with a single immigration system that treats EU countries the same as non-EU countries.

Skilled workers will be given priority over unskilled workers and applicants for skilled jobs will need to meet a minimum salary threshold to ensure they are not competing for jobs that could otherwise be filled by British citizens.

Those who get jobs will be able to bring their immediate family, but only if sponsored by their future employers.

So hands up who on here voted for Brexit hoping there will be less IT specialists brought in?

They will now give India large quote in exchange for free trade deal that will allow a few Rolls Royces being sold there

So "low-skill migration to fall". That's good - the British can now get jobs as dustmen, care workers, fruit pickers, cleaners, warehouse persons, etc which all these foreigners took away from them.... Bet they can't wait! And we will recruit workers from anywhere (except Europe where they tend to be Christian), so probably more Muslims too, that'll go down well with the gammon!
Brexit is having a wee in the middle of the room at a house party because nobody is talking to you, and then complaining about the smell.

What's really shocking is that May does not say that EU will certainly have to reciprocate any immigration changes - including ability to travel without having to get "visa-light" in advance of travel (even if it's once every 2-3 years like with ESTA).

Tory Scum are robbing UK citizens of their EU rights of free movement, you motherfeckers!!!

            like it

So a company takes on a load of British developers for 30 grand, but they can't employ foreigners at that rate so they keep British developers on 30 grand and get the foreigners in for the high paid jobs on 50 grand.

That is exactly what will happen.

What do you mean that's what will happen?
              That's what's already happening.
Been happening for years in the cutting edge industries.
It's not discrimination, simply that Brits tend to be poorly educated, stopping at a Bachelors, which isn't good enough for the newer industries.
              Hard Brexit now!

The other trend you'll see is that immigration will continue at the same rate to keep the economy afloat and the foreigners who will be wealthier than the Brits because the law says so, will all become house owners and landlords and the Brits will simply rent.

All the Brits with their dual nationalities will return on high salaries and laud it over their British counterparts.

Sterling will drop below parity with EUR and USD, possibly with Turkish Lira.

After that imports (such as foreign talent) will be so expensive that nobody will do it.

You've heard it on here first!

A phrase you will here with increasing frequency, is "I won't accept these low rates, I'll go and work on a fruit farm instead"
