Grand National 'could be hit by no deal Brexit', warns racing group

Next year's Grand National could look very different if the UK leaves the EU without a deal, the British Horseracing Authority warns.

Crashing out of the EU would potentially have a huge impact on Irish trainers and Irish horses.

And it could see the end of the Tripartite Agreement system which allows horses to be easily moved between the UK, France and Ireland.

Eight Irish-trained horses have won the Grand National since 1999.

That includes this year's winner Tiger Roll, which is stabled in County Meath, but has triumphed at the Cheltenham Festival as well as as Aintree.

And this is a problem why, exactly? The only people to make money out of racing aren't exactly hurting anyway.

And we're not "crashing out" either, we are still leaving exactly the same at the exactly the same date, just under slightly less favourable circumstances.

The word "could" gets mentioned quite a lot in your post. The racing post has some real news about the issues and proposed resolutions.

It is expected the tripartite agreement, which allows free movement, can continue during the transition period set to follow the UK's departure from the European Union in March.

However, the EU has said it cannot continue indefinitely after Brexit, and racing's leaders would like a new "high health horse" category to replace it.
Brexit is having a wee in the middle of the room at a house party because nobody is talking to you, and then complaining about the smell.

Tell that to the staff at Cambridge airport.
