Originally posted by Mordac View PostRestricting FoM was never one of my concerns, but the question I was asking is how would EU member states treat a red British passport post-Brexit if it was still valid? It would still be a valid EU passport. Just wondering.
Although it says “European Union” at the front, that’s all it says about the EU.
On the back it says “The possession of a passport does not exempt the holder from complying with the immigration regulations of any country, or from the need to obtain visas or other entry permits where required”.
Presumably whether you could continue to enter the EU would depend on the wording of the legislation / regulations. I doubt it would say “a passport with European Union on the front”, it’s more likely to say “valid passport issued by a member state”.
The semantics and arguments would them probably turn on whether the passport as issued counts as a valid passport (which it probably would still be) issued by a member state (which the U.K. was at the time of issue).
No doubt it will be argued over at length in the near future.Comment

I don't think there will be any problems with the passports, there may however be a problem with an EU country allowing a non-EU person into their country :-)“Brexit is having a wee in the middle of the room at a house party because nobody is talking to you, and then complaining about the smell.”Comment
