oh dear a thick ill informed remainer who would of thought it?

The crown is the old mark and still valid for existing glasses which is why Southwark permit it. You just can't buy a new glass with the mark.New Glasses have to have CE.

I look forward to an amusing post apocalyptic cartoon with "I thought that rat tasted funny but son we have crown's on our pint glasses"

You don’t usually buy a new glass with the crown mark, because they are manufactured mostly in France and the manufacturers have no incentive to add one. But you can ask for one to be manufactured with the Crown mark added if you want one. They’re still valid with a Crown mark as long as the Crown does not obscure the CE mark.

Most pint glasses used in the United Kingdom today have actually been produced in France.
Conservatives campaigning to have dual markings of crown and CE were informed by EU Commissioner Günter Verheugen that "a Crown stamp look-alike could naturally be affixed to the glass, as long as it is done in such a way that it is not confused with the CE marking".
I look forward to an amusing anecdote about how Verhuegen is related to Hitler and the EUSSR doesn’t allow dissent.

(Postscript: “affix” in this case doesn’t mean a sticker. It would have the same term as the Directive, which describes the CE mark as being “affixed”. In other words, if the CE mark is etched then so can the Crown mark)
