It's April Fools day everyday in Brexit land

Not necessarily April Fools Day, but typical UKIPper / Express / Brexiter snowflake signalling.Originally posted by darmstadt View PostIt's April Fools day everyday in Brexit land
We’re moving through a period of time where it’s now 100 years to commemorate (or to wipe away in some cases) an ugly part of our collective history. The Great War starting (2014), Gallipoli (2015), the Easter Rising (2016), etc. This is going to go on for another 20 or 30 years or so. It’s not surprising that someone has mooted that we collectively show our European solidarity 100 years after a fascist dictator hosted what is supposed to be a sporting event.
Dog-whistle politics for the kippers, and some here who fall for it....Comment

Alternatively, very bad news for some European athletes, who will no longer qualify for the Olympics on the basis that they no longer need to be the best in their country, they now need to be the best in a whole continent. Although fortunately it won't affect British athletes, as we'll be well shot of the Ministry of Sh!te Ideas by then.Originally posted by meridian View PostNot necessarily April Fools Day, but typical UKIPper / Express / Brexiter snowflake signalling.

Assuming something like this goes ahead (despite the kippers ranting, it’s still conjecture) selection may still be via NOC, so there may be the same total number of people but just representing “the EU” rather then their individual countries. Or they may still be representing their countries but totalling to an EU tally. Or something different, but still representing a combined EU.
What’s important, as you say, is that the UK is well shot of this spirit of camaraderie and sits in the corner on it’s own mumbling to itself about how it won the war. And a World Cup.Comment

I agree the Express is a load of nonsense.Originally posted by meridian View PostNot necessarily April Fools Day, but typical UKIPper / Express / Brexiter snowflake signalling.
