France's President Emmanuel Macron, who alongside Mrs Merkel is a key player in the EU, said: "It is not in our interest that the situation becomes tense." A spokesman for his office said France was hoping for a "strong and stable" Germany.

No it isn't good as Germany won't be able to "fight" for a "successful" Brexit as they may have at least done to some extent with the FDP in the coalition. Now they'll probably spend the next few months running Germany with a minority government and just go with the herd which is basically to block Brexit until the UK caves in on all points.

The collapse of the coalition talks in Germany has basically increased the chances of a complete Brexit failure.
