So companies like this rely on up to 70,000 foreign workers to pick, sort and pack fruit and vegetables. They are more willing to get their hands dirty for low pay. The same is the case in many other British industries. Not many of us want to be employed cleaning up a slaughter house, for example, so eastern European workers are vital.Always forgive your enemies; nothing annoys them so much.Comment

That doesn't support your point. It suggests that British workers don't want to be employed in dirty jobs at all.
Of course you can pay British workers more so that these "dirty" jobs start to become tempting, but don't squeal if your meat prices become like Switzerland - eating beef there is a rich man's game.Hard Brexit now!

No the British have a different cost base which means they can't afford to do the jobs. We could of course stop benefit and then everyone without a job would be desperate. A race to the bottom.

This is the kind of thinking that led to inflation in the 1970's, i.e. simply pay people more to make them better off.

But if people live in the UK then we believe they should be entitled to live without fear of slavery or persecution and in conditions not akin to how you would house animals.
If that means that we have to pay an extra '£600' per year then so be it.
In terms of ringing any memories erm could you possibly have a think about what happened the last time a group of 'migrants' were willing to do all the jobs for lower wages in your country? - any bells ringing yet?Comment

You need to be more wary of where the problem does not appear to exist - because that means it is hidden.
Nice sidestep on the issue of migrants willing to take the low paid work though.Comment
