I've been watching the "Easy German" videos on Youtube (anything but easy), and they're always getting questions obviously from UK Kippers or Trump supporting Americans asking how Germans feel about the flood of immigrants, obviously wanting to hear how terrible life is in Germany and how women are terrified to leave the house because of the rampaging hordes of muslim rapists. And they just sort of shrug and say there's always been a large immigrant population and they're friends and neighbours and there's no issue.

Of course it's possible that they're hand-wringing virtual signalling liberals, what with being on the internet and all.

'You don't vote for a sexist misogynist etc etc' US: 'but he's arguing for ordinary people... it's like we are in the twilight zone' Her: 'Yes except this twilight zone is reality, it's not even funny. It's serious £@£$£$ up' - quite heated.

Even though the France and German elections are coming up I'd be super surprised if the French and Germans follow the UK and the US to the right of the political spectrum. If anything I see a strengthening of partners, which may make the UK vomit. Mad as a box of frogs.
So you think a German woman knows more about American politics than an American? Qualified to tell them who to vote for!? Engage in conversation, listen and learn is a better approach.

As always the bad news attracts world attention the good stories never a peep. The polls got it so wrong because they only reported what they thought not what they heard.

Thousands of refugees find work in Germany
Germany's employment agency has estimated that at least 30,000 refugees have found jobs in the country since spring 2015.
Just a year after arriving in Germany, Syrian programmer Sana Dawod is working full-time at SAP

But you'll not find any of those stories in the UK media. Not once not never. Fast nie!

          I never said that.

But I do think many Germans are aware of the dangers of uncontrollable debt, inflation, right-wing propaganda. Three subjects the UK and US seem happy to sail towards right now.

          Hugely feckin scary.

Not one humanitarian fibre in you is there?

If you read on people talk about the struggle with language. They've not magically transformed themselves in middle-England third generation unemployment claimants. What is inspiring is the their desire to succeed.

As usual you made headline type statement, but did not give the other side of the story.

Hey thats pretty good - I personally would be more than happy to have my family raped so long as the majority of immigrants are not involved.

Talking of being humanitarian isn't it Germany that is going to try and stop migrants claiming benefits for 5 years?

                    I wonder why that is

I think that's entirely a reasonable position. You have to remember, even the Leave campaigners didn't actually think in the main that they'd win.

Actually, was IndyRef the last time a major political event went the way it was expected to?
