What do agents earn on holding our money as long as posible?

The pimp is not paying again, he went underground and does not answer emails or phone calls. (
He is a week overdure with the payment for April, and I have 2 other payments outstanding in the future.

What can I do?? My umbrella is not very helpful and seems to be quite passive.

The fact the pimp has gone underground is in our experience a very, very bad sign... But as before, your brolly needs to get the ball rolling as they have the contract with the pimp.

Tell them to get off their collective backsides and earn the fee they are charging you!

An update and sorry for the late closure to this thread.

All in all, I had to chase the pimp all that summer and even had my brolly issue him a letter demanding interest on the unpaid money which he simply ignored. He was avoiding the calls and didnt answer brolly's emails. When caught off-guard answering his phone he would lie that the money have been paid. It took me 3.5 months to get the money outta him. So no more dealings with him after that. For those who wants to know the name of the agency please PM. I don't want any more people suffer, some people have actually families to support.

What industry do they operate in?

They (the agent co, not the pimp) need to be named and shamed and, if your story is correct, won't have any recourse against you.

In this case, the agency is small and I would guess that it employs max two people. And yes, my story can be confirmed by the documentation I acquired under the course of events.

When it comes to whether the agency should be blamed or an individual agent, I beg to differ. An agent represents the agency and has responsibility to maintain its good reputation. If s/he behaves that way, it means that it is OK for the agency and they accept that. The only thing to change that reputation would be to fire that agent, which they never do.

Lies, lies, lies - it's a standard behavior for a lot of agents. Lying about the client wanting to reduce the rate, lying about the client not accepting my rate etc etc. Even lying about that I accepted a low rate that I never ever accepted. (Now I am talking about other agents I had to deal with). Imagine if we contractors would lie as much as they do! Something must be very wrong with the system if it is perfectly normal to make money though lying. What value does it add to the economy??? For me, it is unfair enrichment which should be a punishable offence. If everyone starts lying in business, what kind of economy are we gonna end up with?

I have seen economic systems working very well without involving lies in their business modus operandi, where you can have an oral (i e unwritten) contract and both sides will honour it.

I also have seen economic systems where people try to screw each as much as they can while doing business. Needless to say, the latter countries have very low level of development and economic standard. Not to mention the constant stress of the need to be on one's guard to not let people rip you off.

If everyone will start screwing everyone in business just to "make money", we will end up living in a Third world country. Is that what we want? Why do we allow these people to conduct their business in the way they do?

So have I but to suggest agents wouldn't be priority 1, 2 and 3 in their own pecking order (as in looking after themselves) means you've got lucky so far.
