    reuse company name?

I'm getting back into contracting after 15 years as a permie.

My original Ltd company was wound up. Its name is not currently in use.

Is there any good reason not to reuse the same name?

    Yes.

    Can't think of one though.

I'm curious, were you put off contracting by IR35 coming in at the time?

There's no reason I can think of, many of our clients returning to contacting use their previous company name when possible.

That was a big part of it. The perpetual uncertainty was... stressful.

That's understandable. There's still plenty of uncertainty around IR35 however the impacts of it are not as bad as I'm sure many feared at the time.

Many companies also seem to have altered the way in which their contracts are written & their working practices are conducted (or not conducted!) in order to try to protect the contractors. The number of our clients that consider themselves caught by IR35 seems to be reducing each year.
