I have a friend who is a personal trainer and would like to know if he can claim the cost of trainers as tax allowable expense. Thank you.

I'm sure one of the accountants on this forum will reply soon, but I'm going to guess the answer will be "no".
I can't claim for suits, which I'll only wear for business purposes, as I "might wear them for personal use", so I'd guess it's the same for trainers, which if anything are more likely to be worn outside of his business. If memory serves correctly, I think it's only actual uniforms that can be claimed. -
Bearing in mind the only other question you have asked on this forum is about expenses do you not think it is time to get an accountant and ask him your questions.Last edited by northernladuk; 29 May 2013, 09:50.'CUK forum personality of 2011 - Winner - Yes really!!!!

Well, even an accountant doesn't know all the questions and it doesn't matter the questions are stupid or not. You don't have to be rude in the public.Originally posted by northernladuk View PostBearing in mind the only other question you have asked on this forum is about expenses do you not think it is time to get an accountant and ask him your stupid questions as you are clearly incapable of understanding your company.Comment

I think if I was the poster's accountant I would attempt everything to not have him as a client.Originally posted by northernladuk View PostBearing in mind the only other question you have asked on this forum is about expenses do you not think it is time to get an accountant and ask him your stupid questions as you are clearly incapable of understanding your company."You’re just a bad memory who doesn’t know when to go away" JRComment

Quick rule of thumb to save you any further embarrassment... expenditure cannot be deducted in computing trading profits unless it is incurred wholly and exclusively for the purposes of the trade, profession or vocation. Easy..Originally posted by qian View PostWell, even an accountant doesn't know all the questions and it doesn't matter the questions are stupid or not.
