If you have 2 or 3 years of accounts you can go to a lender direct.

There is no need to involve a broker.

I had sh*t from one of the brokers who posts on here due to taking a 3 month break a couple of years ago however the lender I finally chose had no issue with it.

Do you need to go on your contracted rate or could you get one just using the figures from your tax returns (guessing around 40k a year)? If you can do it on that I don't see why you can't have a dig around and rates being offered to everyone else and use the comparison sites?
I assumed a contractor mortgage specialist would cover the whole market, look at my accounts and perm salary before and find the best option?

Is that not always the case?

I wonder if it's the same broker?

Asking as we're also looking at mortgages etc and we are hitting a brick wall with one of the ones who post on here too.

Am not sure if they can access all products or just the ones that pay them commission to get but it won't do any harm doing your own home work. There are some good ones out there and I don't think the agents get any special rates to beat some of them. Often calling your existing supplier will get you a discounted rate that anyone walking in couldn't get.

Similar situation to the OP. My current mortgage provider will not let me move to any of their new products as I have one late payment (Doesn't show on my credit score). A have just had a mortgage agreed in full with the Halifax using a specialist contrator/freelancer mortgage specialist who doesn't advertise on here.

@Mods - Am I allowed to link to their website on here? Or should I PM the details for anybody who is interested.

If you are subscribing to Experian, stop checking your Credit Score since this will be recorded as a search...
