    Giant Group Fees

I got this from the Giant website:

"Our fee is £28 for each week (or part week) we process, after tax relief that’s a fee of £16.63 or £12.41 for a basic and higher rate taxpayer respectively."

How is it Giant are able to provide tax relief on the fees they charge, I didn't think this was possible?

They don't provide tax relief. They take their fee from the gross billing. The effect is that you are only 16.63 worse off than if thier fee was zero.

      Hi all.
      |
This is my first post here.
I'll start a contract paid at a higher rate, and have no other options than Giant Group.

I'd like to calculate the whole amount Giant bites from my daily rate £300.

      Any info, much appreciated.

Why don't you create a new thread in the Umbrella companies thread rather than resurect a 6 year old thread?

Umbrella thread is at the top of the list in the Accounts/Legal list.

Have you also asked them? A quick call should get your answer.

On that rate, have you considered and explored whether you could use a limited company?

Agree with Sally - if you are given no choice but to use a particular umbrella company and you are not happy with them go Ltd.

With regard to deductions - the umbrella company shouldn't make permanent deductions for anything other than their margin i.e. the bit they keep from the contract rate. Most will take an amount for holiday pay as we cannot pay 'rolled up' holiday pay but this is paid back to you either when you take holiday, when you leave or, in our case, at the end of the financial year
