    Forming a Limited Company

To those who have limited companies for contracting purposes:

What have you called your companies? Do you just have Firstname Surname Ltd, or have you all come up with clever names?

A minor detail I know, but I was curious!

I got a suitable domain name first and then based the company name around that.
His heart is in the right place - shame we can't say the same about his brain...

I thought of the name and checked Companies House followed by http://www.internic.com/whois.html . Bought the ltd and the .co and .com domains immediately. I also created email accounts on MSN, Yahoo, Google with the company's name for good measure.

I got a domain name about 10 years ago, just something I thought sounded good and thought if I ever had a company that would be the name I'd have. And I did.

If you're contracting and especially if you're contracting through an agent it doesn't really make the slightest bit of difference what you call your Ltd, but a memorable domain name can help a lot.
Will work inside IR35. Or for food.
