    Bonus Payments (non-contracted)

OK, so I'm running a Pre-sales activity, which if the customer signs will see the permies get a signing bonus. I've nothing written in my contract, but the client today has hinted I may get one too (which would be nice to reflect the 70hrs weeks I've been hammering to help shape this for a win...).

Are there any bad consequences of accepting should one come my way?
I didn't say it was your ******* fault, I said I was blaming you!

You have been part of the IR35 discussions so give us your thoughts on why you think this should be acceptable.... then we will comment.

That was my thought!! The 12-18mths additional work to deliver will remain my bonus!

It seems to me that you could view it as a risk. After all you are doing a load of work which will only get paid for under certain circumstances. Just a slightly different way of looking at it.

The fact you do those hours and have to ask the question about bonus in itself looks like you are so close to permidom it is not true. I am sure you will tell me there are other circumstances you haven't gone in to but still, don't see how you could look any more permie from that.

What you could try to do if he is really pushing the money your way is tot up all the extra hours and invoice him for it, which, oh my gosh, appears to be about the same as the bonus...

Problem is IR35 is about working practices and if the client see's he is giving you a bonus you are ****ed however you get it out of him. Only takes him to mention it once in an investigation and your sunk.

And that, right there, is my concern!

Although Im not sure what you are saying about working the hours? They are professional working day (and include some travel time)... Evidence being that today has been a 3hr day, but usual rate charged.

Ah, so it's my use of words that you are suggesting points to me being a perm and not the fact i worked the hours!

Confused now......It is the fact you are putting so many extra hours above contracted tied up with expectation of a bonus makes you more perm than the perm guys but the point is a bit lost now.....

70 hours is hardly a profressional working week.

Fair point, but ups and downs etc. Deliverables mean a little more work, quiet time and potter through this week. I get you point though. thanks.
