HMRC are outrageous.....actually would an independent Scotland be rid of them? Maybe the only reason to vote Yes....

Well it's the CPS who decide whether to proceed or not. If it was me I would be making cps's live hell hoping that it would impact the others.

I also would be looking for any newspaper quotes by hmrc and going for them for libel individually

That is precisely the reason I am voting YES next Thursday. I'm totally sickened by this corrupt Westminster/Civil Service/Judicial establishment, and totally disillusioned with the so called rule of law and British 'sense of fair play.'
In an independent Scotland I might have a chance to prolong or maybe even escape my sentence on 'death row.' One of the first things that will happen in an independent Scotland is the creation of a Constitution - the existence of which may well have saved us from this whole retrospective legislation debacle.
Even if I have to pay in the end, I'd rather be shafted by some of my own that this gang of two-faced, lying, hypocritical public school boys.
I've now become completely immune to all the threats and scare-mongering by the same self-serving Westminster elite.

Prosecution did not complete their submissions but withdrew due to insufficient evidence. Jury directed to return verdict of Not Guilty
The case is over.

This is what I find most disconcerting. The CPS seemed convinced that a successful prosecution was likely, but the judge laughed it out of court. There is something fishy here. A simple search for Montpelier and Gittins brings back nothing but negative 'news' stories that would no doubt make prospective clients think twice. That was the aim.

For the prosecution to collapse so spectacularly must raise questions about the CPS relationship with HMRC.

This was an obvious waste of money, and the result of a vendetta. It is now down to HMRC to prove it is not.
