For good measure, the HMRC letter wasn't even addressed to me, nor had my name on it - it was simply a tippexed previous letter.

With this continued state of denial and stonewalling from HMRC, where do we go from here (apart from Overseas, taking all our money in a suitcase of gold sovereigns)?
If anyone has the option to move overseas, or can possibly arrange it, by god do it. Deny them their money, both now, and forever going forward.

Plus, let's face it, this country is a tulip hol3 anyway

      Next Election

Given the political uncertainty, if accelerated payment can some how be post phoned until next general election, (judicial review, legal challenge etc) there is a significant chance that it may not be pursued.

Well, seeing as they want us out of Europe, I can't imagine they'd let us have our day at the ECHR.

I think it's worth an approach. They'll be looking to undermine the Tories, and they can do that by highlighting the fear factor that retrospection and making HMRC judge, jury and executioner creates. They can do that without backing tax avoidance and the Tories are edgy.

On another note, I just heard Gauke on Radio 5 live, and he starts to sound uncomfortable when he gets pressed on avoidance vs evasion. His standard get-out is that the schemes 'simply don't work'. I wonder how he'd respond to a question on retrospection to ensure they don't work. If NTRT have a brief and succinct summary with a question to be put to him should we hear that he's appearing somewhere, it would be good to spike his guns. He's going to be doing the rounds for the next few days because of HMRCs increased take. I think we should keep an ear out for where he is going to be and nail him.

Absolutely agree...let's corner the man if at all possible.
These piss-poor arguments of his can be debunked so easily it's not even funny - no reason to let him get away with any of this sh1t. If anyone can get hold of Dave's media schedule...
Also want to ask about his U-turn on retro tax between 2008 (when he played the anti-retrospective tax crusader) and today. I'm sure he will come up with some creative justification...

It's quite easy to find out where Gauke will be appearing.

                  Just watch his Twitter account...

If there is going to be something organized then please PM me. I am generally keeping well out of this - but I would love a chance to relive my old f4j days.

The problem is that it it might generate publicity and that is a double edged sword.

All publicity is good publicity... The last thing Gauke & co. like is for their shenanigans to be discussed in broad daylight.
And don't wait for things to be "organized"... Everyone should take matters in their own hands. We are little, but we are legion.

@Santa Claus: thanks for the heads up... I tend to follow www.twitter.com/BeenGauked more than his cursed namesake ;-)
