MP Comments
My MP said he had spoken to Steve Baker, who said he was in discussions with Minsters on the Subject. So I am guessing the outcome is already determined. However the main point is that this will be debated and has gained a much higher profile than before. As DR day's this is only one part of the battle/war whatever.Originally posted by helen7 View PostBasically means the people raising the amendment will back down at the first sign of opposition; just as happened last time.
In summary, don't get your hopes up. Its a 1 in a 100 chance.Comment

Out of curiosity why does Steve Baker discusisng this with ministers lead you to believe its already been decided?Originally posted by Goinroamin View PostMy MP said he had spoken to Steve Baker, who said he was in discussions with Minsters on the Subject. Isn't that the way it works
It was just a comment, but when two politicians talk ahead of a debate surely they both have the intention of influencing the outcome of that debate. So what I mean is that they will have both made their positions clear to each other and one may have agreed to compromise or not. However in my opinion it is unlikely that anything heard during the course of that debate will change the their minds.Originally posted by smalldog View PostOut of curiosity why does Steve Baker discusisng this with ministers lead you to believe its already been decided?
I know it is a cynical view but I can't see David Gauke walking into that debate stating he got it wrong and he is going to support the amendment.
But lets see.Comment

Understand, He doesn't have to go in saying he supports the amendment, but he can object to its inclusion less aggressively which doesn't mean he supports it to the outside world. ITs not all or nothing but as you say lets see!Originally posted by Goinroamin View PostIt was just a comment, but when two politicians talk ahead of a debate surely they both have the intention of influencing the outcome of that debate. Reply from MP and Emails sent
My MP, James Clappison (Con), simply passes all correspondence through to the HMRC 'Ministerial Response Officer' who toes the HMRC line. He's so far simply holding his hands up and insisting there's nothing he can do despite me refuting the continuing misinformaton from HMRC.
I've sent the NTRT 'Amendment letter' and await the response. I've also sent the standard Gauke...Comment

I sent an email to Gauke on Monday - no reply. Then my wife sent an email today explaining the situation from a spouse perspective and she has had a reply from David Gauke's office asking for our address. will see what happens nextComment
